THE SONGS
This musical for 7-11 year olds is FULL of catchy, feel-good showbiz numbers, from the dancing flamingoes’ opening number to a song exploring the age-old question: what DID come first... the chicken or the egg? The show closes with a hearty finale song championing ambition, dreams and positivity – ‘The world needs people with dreams!’
P.S. You might even find a song you already know and love hiding in the soundtrack there... it’s yellow and small!
THE STORY
Chickalita is desperate to get out of her small farm and off to the big city, to do what she’s always dreamed of – singing! Follow her as she faces the singing-hating collies and the riff-raff of Scallywag Alley, and even as she tries to cross the road in the big city to get her one shot at her dream!
THE CHARACTERS
We’ve got a dreamer of a chick, controlling collies who hate singing, the unlikely group from Scallywag Alley, dancing flamingos, rapping bunnies – the whole lot! There is truly something for everyone in this production, so get your casting director’s hat on and get egg-cited!

There are 42 speaking parts plus at least 11 essential non-speaking parts (at least 3 flamingo dancers, four chicks, Bunn E. Bugs and 3 bunnies), so a cast size of 53.
Increasing The Cast Size
The speaking parts can easily be increased to 64 if you have 12 chickens instead of 4 and split the lines evenly between them; and 6 rats instead of 3, with each rat having one line. Have as many non-speaking extra chickens, pigs, sheep and Scallywag Alley characters as you like.
Decreasing The Cast Size
The cast list can easily be reduced to 31 speaking parts (with all the speaking parts doubling up as the essential non-speaking parts) by doing the following:
- Director, Choreographer and Voice Off double up as Dougal, Dooley and Doomer (the cockerels)
- Henrietta, Egglantine and Chicksy double up as the flamingo dancers
- Eggs 1-4 double up as Chicks 1-4
- Sheep 1-4 double up as Foxy Gran, Benny, Charlie and Lois
- Pigs 1-4 double up as Bunn E. Bugs and the bunnies
- Clawris the cat doubles up as Agent
- Butch, Shep and Mac double up as the three rats
